Background
After earning valuable experience in agriculture on the U.S. Mainland, Thom and Beverly Foster further increased their interest and knowledge in plants and landscape design when they relocated to Maui in 1982. Passionate about their chosen vocation, they have been working in the landscape industry on Maui ever since. In 1986, seeing the need to provide better quality and service, they decided to aply their experience and entrepreneurial spirit to their own venture and founded Island Plant Company (IPC).
Three years later, Thom became a licensed landscape contractor. Today, Island Plant Company has the well-earned reputation for designing and installing and maintaining beautiful and practical landscapes in Hawaii since 1989.
Over the years, the professionalism, expertise and attention to detail by those at IPC has been rewarded by a dramatic growth in the staff, equipment, and capabilities of the company. From an original staff of two, IPC has grown to a staff of over one hundred. It has dozens of dedicated professionals, including an operations manager, five superintendents, three account managers, twelve supervisors, three certified arborists, and a native plant specialist. In yet another venture to provide better service for their clients, IPC is developing its own nursery in Upcountry Maui.
Continuing in their tradition of a hands-on approach, the company is owned and managed by Thom and Beverly, and they take personal pride and interest in each and every project undertaken by IPC.
